Electronics imports in January 2025 rose by 18.79% to US$ 2.51 billion, which is 21.93% of the country’s US$ 11.45 billion total commodity imports.

The country’s electronics imports increased by 18.79% from US$ 2.11 billion in December 2024 to US$ 2.51 billion in January 2025. See Fig. 1.
Imports in eight (8) electronics sectors went up, led by Consumer Electronics at 60.70%, from US$ 97.87 million to US$ 157.28 million. It was followed by Office Equipment (53.30%), Automotive Electronics (36.33%), Electronic Data Processing (26.24%), Communication/Radar (25.90%), Semiconductor Components/Devices (15.67%), Telecommunication (15.11%), and Control and Instrumentation (11.61%).
Meanwhile, Medical/Industrial Instrumentation contracted by 36.55%, from US$ 26.57 million to US$ 16.86 million.
The electronics imports climbed by 14.22%, from US$ 2.20 billion in January 2024 to US$ 2.51 billion in January 2025, as shown in Fig. 2.
Seven (7) sectors grew, which was led by Consumer Electronics at 23.60%, from US$ 127.25 million to US$ 157.28 billion, as shown in Table 2. This was followed by Semiconductor Components/Devices (16.36%), Telecommunication (15.37%), Electronic Data Processing (9.55%), Office Equipment (8.89%), Communication/Radar (7.30%), and Control and Instrumentation (3.41%).
Two (2) sectors shrunk, namely, Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (29.54%), and Automotive Electronics (17.18%).

COUNTRIES OF ORIGIN (JANUARY 2025)
Table 1 shows that the top five (5) countries of origin of electronics imports in January 2025 were China (32.51%), Japan (11.08%), South Korea (8.85%), the USA (8.53%), and Taiwan (8.40%). These were likewise the countries of origin in the same order in December 2024.

The rest of the top ten countries of origin were Singapore (7.55%), Hong Kong (5.93%), Malaysia (4.27%), Vietnam (3.08%), and Thailand (2.11%).

Fig. 3 shows the top imported electronics products in January 2025. Parts and accessories of data processing machines under electronic data processing imported from Hong Kong rose by 114.62%. See Table 3.
