Electronics imports in April 2024 increased by 15.02% to US$ 2.32 billion, which is 21.12% of the country’s US$ 10.98 billion total commodity imports.

The country’s electronics imports went up from US$ 2.02 billion in March 2024 to US$ 2.32 billion in April 2024. See Fig. 1.
Five (5) sectors rose, led by Office Equipment at 31.95%, from US$ 17.18 million to US$ 22.67 million. It was followed by Electronic Data Processing (26.14%), Semiconductor Components/Devices (20.28%), Communication/Radar (7.52%), and Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (1.62%).
Four electronics sectors contracted, led by Automotive Electronics (49.39%), from US$ 6.42 million to US$ 3.25 million. This was followed by Consumer Electronics (31.29%), Telecommunication (7.67%), and Control and Instrumentation (2.64%).
The electronics imports increased by 8.98%, from US$ 2.13 billion in April 2024 to US$ 2.32 billion in April 2024, as shown in Fig. 2.
Imports for six (6) sectors rose, led by Office Equipment at 44.45%, from US$ 15.69 million to US$ 22.67 million, as shown in Table 2. It was followed by Communication/Radar (25.78%), Electronic Data Processing (24.53%), Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (12.47%), Semiconductor Components/Devices (7.12%), Control and Instrumentation (5.06%).
Three (3) sectors decreased, namely Automotive Electronics (9.44%), Consumer Electronics (2.89%), and Telecommunication (2.74%).

Cumulative electronics imports shrunk by 6.81%, from US$ 9.07 billion in 2024 to US$ 8.46 billion in 2024. These comprised 20.90% of the total Philippine commodity imports YTD (See Fig. 3).
Four (4) electronics sectors declined, led by Office Equipment (13.40%) from US$ 83.19 million to US$ 72.04 million. It was followed by Semiconductor Components/Devices (11.61%), Communication/Radar (5.84%), and Telecommunication (2.05%).
Meanwhile, Automotive Electronics went up by39.84%, from US$ 16.28 million to US$ 22.76 million. This was followed by Consumer Electronics (22.70%), Electronic Data Processing (11.95%), Control and Instrumentation (5.02%), and Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (4.40%). Kindly refer to Table 3.
COUNTRIES OF ORIGIN (APRIL 2024)
Table 1 shows that the top five (5) countries of origin of electronics imports in April 2024 were China (27.21%), Japan (12.61%), South Korea (10.25%), the USA (8.95%), and Singapore (8.28%).

The rest of the top ten countries of origin were Taiwan (7.84%), Hong Kong (6.49%), Malaysia (3.32%), Vietnam (2.93%), and Thailand (2.50%).

Fig. 4 shows the top imported electronics products in April 2024. Parts and accessories of data processing machines under electronic data processing imported from Hong Kong increased by 104.40%. Meanwhile, materials and accessories for the manufacture of semiconductor devices imported from China decreased by 42.18%. See Table 3.
