PHILIPPINE ELECTRONICS EXPORT PERFORMANCE JUNE 2024


Electronics exports declined by 15.48% in June 2024 to US$ 3.26 billion, which is 58.54% of the US$ 5.57 billion total Philippine exports.
 

 A.  PH Electronics Exports: (Month-on-Month)

Electronics exports shrunk from US$ 3.86 billion in May 2024 to US$ 3.26 billion in June 2024, as shown in Fig. 1. 

 

Exports in seven (7) sectors contracted as shown in Table 2. It was led by Communication/Radar at 32.45%, from US$ 49.68 million to US$ 33.56 million. This was followed by Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (27.42%), Electronic Data Processing (20.17%), Control and Instrumentation (18.74%), Semiconductor Components/Devices (15.73%), Telecommunication (13.06%), and Office Equipment (0.02%).

 

 Automotive Electronics went up by 9.58%, from US$ 4.90 million to US$ 5.37 million. This was followed by Consumer Electronics (2.65%).

 

B. PH Electronics Exports: (Year-on-Year)

The Philippine Electronics exports decreased by 23.68%, from US$ 4.27 billion in June 2023 to US$ 3.26 billion in June 2024, as shown in Fig. 2. 

 

Exports in four (4) sectors went down, led by Communication/Radar at 34.92%, from US$ 51.57 million to US$ 33.56 million. This was followed by Semiconductor Components/Devices (29.53%), Control and Instrumentation (20.17%), and Telecommunication (8.89%). Kindly refer to Table 2.


Meanwhile, Automotive Electronics increased the most by 25.72%, from US$ 4.27 million to US$ 5.37 million. It was followed by Consumer Electronics (14.47%), Electronic Data Processing (8.77%), Office Equipment (6.45%), and Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (1.36%).

C.  PH Electronics Exports (Year-to-Date)

Year-to-date electronics exports improved by 3.95%, from US$ 21.49 billion in 2023 to US$ 22.34 billion in 2024, which is equivalent to 61.36% of the total Philippine exports. Please see Fig. 3.

 

Exports from seven (7) sectors rose from last year’s YTD figures, led by Automotive Electronics at 71.12%, from US$ 18.70 million to US$ 32.00 million. This was followed by Medical Industrial Instrumentation (35.85%), Electronic Data Processing (25.69%), Telecommunication (12.92%), Consumer Electronics (11.46%), Control and Instrumentation (5.59%), and Semiconductor Components/Devices (2.22%). Office Equipment shrunk by 11.39%, from US$ 169.76 million to US$ 150.43 million. This was followed by Communication/Radar (8.88%).

 

 

COUNTRIES OF DESTINATION (JUNE 2024)

Table 1 shows the top five (5) export destinations in June 2024, namely, Hong Kong (24.01%), the USA (13.49%), China (9.73%), Japan (5.77%), and Singapore (5.52%).

The other destinations in the top ten were Taiwan (5.12%), Germany (4.46%), South Korea (4.09%), the Netherlands (3.62%), and Thailand (3.12%).

The top exported electronics products in June 2024 are in Fig. 4. Integrated Circuits bound for the Hong Kong increased by 26.11%. Meanwhile, Parts and accessories of data processing machines under electronic data processing bound for Thailand declined by 43.40%. See Table 4.
