After the event’s welcome message, SEIPI President Dr. Dan Lachica reported a year-to-date industry revenue of USD 36.32 billion as of September, with an improved 2025 outlook projecting around 5% growth. He highlighted SEIPI’s active advocacies, one of which is the ongoing concerns on proposed wage hikes, he reiterated SEIPI’s position supporting regional wage boards to maintain competitiveness.

Dr. Dan Lachica also reported strengthened international partnerships, including newly signed MOUs with the Chemical Industry Association of the Philippines and the Taiwan Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (TEEMA).

But the key highlight of it all is the organization’s preparations as the Philippines takes on the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026.

“SEIPI will work with the government towards the inclusion of Semiconductor & Electronics in the ASEAN 2026 agenda,” Dr. Lachica said.

In his industry outlook, SEIPI Chairman and Amkor Technology Philippines President Engr. Noberto “Bing” Viera underscored the booming global semiconductor market, which saw USD 280.4 billion in Q3 2026 sales, but contrasted this with the Philippines’ slower growth.

“By 2030, the global semiconductor and electronics manufacturing industry is projected to hit a staggering $2 trillion. In contrast, the Philippines is targeting $70 billion, that’s a massive gap but also a massive opportunity.”

Engr. Viera raised concerns over issues affecting investor confidence, he noted that recent corruption scandals involving flood-control and infrastructure projects, recurring flooding linked to substandard works, and the government’s reassessment of major public works programs had contributed to weakened market sentiment and a more than 40% drop in foreign direct investment in recent years, heightening worries about the country’s long-term competitiveness.

“…despite recent challenges, the Philippines remains home to some of the world’s leading semiconductor and electronics companies, and this is an advantage that must be protected.”
