PHILIPPINE ELECTRONICS EXPORT PERFORMANCE DECEMBER 2024

 
Electronics exports contracted by 0.05% in December 2024 to US$ 3.10 billion, which is 54.75% of the US$ 5.66 billion total Philippine exports.
 

 A.  PH Electronics Exports: (Month-on-Month)

Electronics exports remained relatively flat from US$ 3.099 billion in November 2024 to US$ 3.097 billion in December 2024, as shown in Fig. 1.

 

Exports in five (5) sectors went down as shown in Table 2. It was led by Automotive Electronics at 27.75%, from US$ 9.01 million to US$ 6.51 million. It was followed by Communication/Radar (23.08%), Electronic Data Processing (13.89%), Office Equipment (12.01%), and Telecommunication (8.41%).

 

Consumer Electronics improved by 48.96%, from US$ 143.36 million to US$ 213.55 million. This was followed by Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (45.87%), Control and Instrumentation (4.80%), and Semiconductor Components/Devices (0.75%).

B. PH Electronics Exports: (Year-on-Year)

The Philippine Electronics exports decreased by 15.05%, from US$ 3.65 billion in December 2023 to US$ 3.10 billion in December 2024, as shown in Fig. 2. 

 

Semiconductor Components/Devices shrunk by 30.11%, from US$ 2.75 billion to US$ 1.92 billion. This was followed by Communication/Radar (14.74%)

 

Exports in seven (7) sectors increased, led by Consumer Electronics at 168.27%, from US$ 79.60 million to US$ 213.55 million. This was followed by Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (81.27%), Automotive Electronics (52.75%), Office Equipment (48.81%), Telecommunication (28.98%), Electronic Data Processing (18.15%), and Control and Instrumentation (15.31%).

C.  PH Electronics Exports (Year-to-Date)

Year-to-date electronics exports declined by 6.38%, from US$ 45.65 billion in 2023 to US$ 42.74 billion in 2024, which is equivalent to 58.38% of the total Philippine exports. Please see Fig. 3.

 

Exports from three (3) sectors went down from last year’s YTD figures, led by Semiconductor Components/Devices at 13.47%, from US$ 33.70 billion to US$ 29.16 billion. This was followed by Communication/Radar (8.55%), and Office Equipment (2.02%). Please see Table 3.

 

Meanwhile, Automotive Electronics increased by 85.83%, from US$ 41.49 million to US$ 76.69 million. It was followed by Consumer Electronics (42.35%), Medical Industrial Instrumentation (28.67%), Electronic Data Processing (24.36%), Telecommunication (14.94%), and Control and Instrumentation (7.21%).

COUNTRIES OF DESTINATION (DECEMBER 2024)

Table 1 shows the top five (5) export destinations in December 2024, namely, the USA (16.49%), Hong Kong (15.56%), China (10.36%), Singapore (7.86%), and Japan (6.55%). These were likewise the countries of destination in the same order in November 2024.

The other destinations in the top ten were Taiwan (4.64%), Germany (3.83%), Thailand (3.80%), the Netherlands (3.67%), and South Korea (3.11%).

The top exported electronics products in December 2024 are in Fig. 4. Electronic Integrated Circuits – processors and controllers bound for Singapore improved by 50.47%. Meanwhile, Integrated Circuits bound for Hong Kong contracted by 32.82%.   See Table 4.
