Electronics Imports reached US$ 2.19
billion in January 2024 or 21.57 % of the US$ 10.16 billion total commodity
imports.

The country’s electronics imports rose by 4.58% from US$ 2.10 billion in December 2023 to US$ 2.19 billion in January 2024. See Fig. 1. Imports in eight (8) electronics sectors increased. This was led by Communication/Radar at 41.16%, from US$ 12.84 million to US$ 18.12 million, followed by Office Equipment (35.35%), Control and Instrumentation (30.09%), Consumer Electronics (19.56%), Semiconductor Components/Devices (13.95%), Electronic Data Processing (11.70%), Telecommunication (8.45%), and Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (0.90%). Meanwhile, Automotive Electronics declined by 1.76%.
The electronics imports decreased by 10.40%, from US$ 2.45 billion in January 2023 to US$ 2.19 billion in January 2024, as shown in Fig. 2.
Four (4) sectors shrunk, which was led by Communication/Radar at 36.06%, from US$ 28.35 million to US$ 18.12 billion, as shown in Table 2. This was followed by Automotive Electronics (18.44%), Telecommunication (4.18%), and Medical/Industrial Instrumentation (0.67%).
Five (5) sectors went up, namely, Semiconductor Components/Devices (98.69%), Electronic Data Processing (40.85%), Consumer Electronics (34.97%), Office Equipment (29.83%), and Control and Instrumentation (9.26%).

COUNTRIES OF ORIGIN (JANUARY 2024)
Table 1 shows that the top five (5) countries of origin of electronics imports in January 2024 were China (25.75%), Japan (11.85%), South Korea (9.67%), USA (8.74%), and Singapore (8.32%).

The rest of the top ten countries of origin were the Taiwan (8.31%), Hong Kong (7.72%), Malaysia (5.54%), Vietnam (3.12%), and Thailand (2.50%).

Integrated Circuits imported from China increased by 96.85%. Meanwhile, materials and accessories for the manufacture of semiconductor devices imported from China decreased by 43.97%. See Table 3.
